expedition muffler
By geno
After much research, I decided on the flowmaster kit because the advertised low decibel ratings. All the kits, had a higher decibel rating, which would not be good in my Expedition. We didn't want to replaced our muffler with a auto parts store muffler because here in Mn, it would rust out in a year or 2 and a factory replacement was way to much. This muffler kit works great, fits great and most of all, has a low exhaust note in the vehicle with no droning. I have seen no marked increase in gas mileage or power, but with a large SUV, I wasn't looking for one.

Not a perfect fit but works well.
By spike01040
I bought this for my 01 ford expedition. According to amazon this was a exact fit for my truck. Well if fits well but is not an exact fit. First the outlet on the muffler should be offset to one side not centered, secondly I wish the hangars had a little more play in them. Everything fit well but the system was a little crooked because of the muffler and lack of play in the hangars but other than that it is a very good system and a great deal for the price.

GOOD CAT-BACK SYSTEM FOR MY 98 EXPY!
By nevadaliving
I purchased this as a final bolt-on performance item for my 1998 XLT 5.4 expedition (already got the EDGE Evolution tuner and Volant CAI kit), and I was watching this cat-back kit for quite some time. I knew my muffler was on it's way out and Amazon had dropped the pricing pretty significantly so I figured what the heck? First off the removal of the stock exhaust system can be a pain, it took me and a buddy about an hour just to get the rusted muffler off (everything else was pretty easy)....make sure you have a die-grinder with a small cut-off wheel, or you might get lucky and just need some good ole' MAPP gas (I wasn't lucky so die grinder was the key for removal). Once the removal of the old system is done, you are looking at about 20-30 minutes or so of very easy installation. Make sure to check all of your clamps after things warm up and you will be fine. As for the sound: well if you want a low-key sound with NO DRONE in the cabin, then this is the kit for you. It has a nice low-hitting sound at normal take-off and even better at WOT, but once you hit cruising speed it's just as stock sounding as can be. Even the wife gave her thumbs-up approval. As far as performance gains, well let's face it.....you aren't going to get a whole lot out of a 1st gen Triton 5.4 with bolt-ons, but I was going for the look and beefier sound anyways. If you out to complete your trio of performance bolt-ons like I was, just looking for a nicer (subtle) cat-back system, or in the market to replace your existing/failing exhaust, you can't go wrong with this set-up. Highly recommend!
