Solid Beacon
By Gramps
This is my first directional beacon, which really cut down the search time compared to my old proximity/grid search. I have run several practice searches with it and it's amazing how much easier it is to head in the right direction immediately. I haven't tried the motion sensing yet (thankfully) but I have seen increased performance in picking up signals from further away as well as transmitting a strong signal from several feet deep. Ergonomically, it's comfortable to wear, easy to adjust in multiple locations on your body while hiking/skiing, and the switches are all easy to adjust with gloves, but stay in place when they should. Overall, I recommend you convince all of your ski/hiking/snowmobiling friends to upgrade if they haven't yet. Beacon technology seems to have come a long way.
