For the price it's unbeatable!
By um what?
Pros- Beautifully Made!, real San-Mai forged & folded blade, real hamon, real rayskin handle, full tang with 2 pegs in handle, razor sharp, All fittings are tight, good balance, comes with- cleaning kit, sword bag, booklet & certificate of authenticityCons- Most of these have been sitting for a while. Mine was forged a year ago. So the oil the sword was packed in dried and caked on the blade a bit, does not come in a wooden box, also 'Made in China' might be a negative for some buyers(not me)...Bottom Line- This is one cool katana. And for under $200 the price is right. It DOES NOT as the description states come with the wooden sword box. (Not a biggie for me as I already knew Ryumon quit shipping swords in the wooden box a while ago.) But if that's a deal killer for you be warned. The cleaning kit is nice and does come in a wooden box. The little booklet is nice too and describes the care and maintenance of the katana. The sword itself is simply beautiful. The hamon is faint but pretty and will come out more with polishing I'm sure. Point of balance is perfect at 5 1/2" past the tsuba. All of the fittings are tight and it feels SOLID in the hand. (More so than my Musashi. That extra $75 makes a big difference!) In fact, I'd hold this up against a CAS Hanwei practical katana any day of the week. If you do Iaido or Kendo you'll love this sword. If you've got the cash this is a great buy For under $200 I don't think I could find more sword than this anywhere! If you are on a budget though , you might look at Musashi swords. Their ~$80-100 range katanas are also differentially hardened and quite well made.
