This is the most basic, no frills Aimpoint available in my opinion and it is built very rugged. I chose this over the more compact 9000SC because I wanted to switch between a Benelli MR1 (picatinny mount) and Ruger Scout rifle (traditional or scout mount) and I like the versatility the length provides with a traditional hunting rifle. The 2MOA suits me more than the larger 4MOA dot because I like precision and will occasionally use this for close range hunting where magnification is unnecessary. I currently have zeroed on my black rifle for about 50 ft for any potential close engagement, but have no doubt that this would shoot tightly @ 100 yds or more. Standard elevation and windage adjustments require a coin for dialing in, and the knurled intensity settings knob has a positive click when adjusting. The objective lens has a nicely polished orange exterior coating, while the ocular lens is clear and practically invisible. The highest intensity setting refracts a reddish halo on the interior, but the only time you'd need it is shooting in extremely bright daylight. Overall, a very quality piece of equipment.

Having been a hunter and shooter all my life, I wanted something that was super fast and accurate to use in the timber of N/W Montana. The optic also had to be rock solid and water/snow proof. After purchase, I set it up on a Vangard 30-06. It took only three shots to sight in and has not moved zero since. I have shot it in all weather conditions from 50 to 300 yards and for old eyes, is one of the best optics I have used...it even came with a set of rings and battery. Quality, easy to use and accurate, the Aimpoint 9000L was well worth the price.

I am an AIMPOINT user and love the products. I purchased the 9000l as a certified used Amazon warehouse offering after Amazon emailed me that they had a 9000L that had a scratch, but was otherwise fine. I received the unit to find that the electronic compartment had been forced open ( a proprietary tool is require to open it) and the electronics were destroyed. I have to ship the product back to Aimpoint for repair. I notified Amazon of the circumstances and am waiting for them to step up. Again, the functional site is a great one, when it is not compromised prior to it's sale.UPDATE Aimpoint sent me a brand new sight and all is well. They were very responsive and stood behind their product.
