I bought this pick-up along with the EMG 60 active pick-up and installed them into my sons guitar. The installation was easy and painless due to the prewired harnesses. I did have to do a little soldering to wire in the selector switch but that too was painless. These pick-ups come with everything you need except the 9-volt battery. What a great sound they create. My son is extremely happy with them.

this pickup is awesome! i have used a wide variety of different pickups for years and this is my new favorite. i like it better than my Duncan blackout. it has a very full sound and it is very dynamic. not what i expected from an active. and with the 18 volt mod it is even sweeter. just amazing. it actually cleans up very nicely but if you want super clean you have to turn the volume down a bit. for blues it is great but this thing rules in the metal area. it is slightly lower in volume than the regular emg81 but it isn't that noticeable. if i didn't have half marks on my amp volume i wouldn't be able to tell. basically it goes to 11!!!

I have had seymour duncans in the past but now that I own a factory installed EMG 81 in my Jackson Dinky, I will never buy another pickup. Don't buy Duncans unless you like noisy pickups, the 81 is killer and the one to get. Buy before 2012 or it may be too late. LOL.
