Product Description
Full aluminum built cooling body constructed to fit three drives within a two (5.25) bay fitting, the MB453 Series follows the tradition of industrial systems' needs for stability, durability, toughness and high sensitivities for mass storage operating conditions. It's equipped with a hot swappable fan that may be detached if confined by depth limitations when integrated, or if replacement is necessary. Our removable fan requires no tools or wiring, simply swap with a new fan and back to operation! It is space saving and user friendly for industrialized system solutions.

Tight fit. Better for easy change cold swap than hot
By Mark G. Woodruff
It's a very tight fit going in an Antec P182 case. It wasn't clear to me how to pop the fan off at first--you press the middle tab down, not the outside ones. Haven't used it for SAS yet. It's time consuming to put the drives in the frames. My only concern is the lack of shock mounting on the drives. I wouldn't use this for true hot swapping while the other drives are active; you'd almost certainly bounce the heads, either causing data loss or early failure of your drives. But if you suspend or hibernate your system, then swap drives, it works fine, which is what I got it for: an easy way to pull drives when I need do.If you're looking for a true hot swap system, buy a used server. None of the consumer gear really cuts it. If you're looking for a backup solution, I'd recommend this over USB external drives any day. Full speed! In the long run, it's also a better choice than eSata since the eSata cables tend to break, and the connectors only have a 50-insertion lifespan per the Sata spec.
