This laser has great range, it worked for me at 500 feet line of sight and the build quality of the standard and tripod are first rate. The laser light is good strength, viewable outdoors in hazy light. My first use was to set up starter strips for siding going around many corners and it worked well. However the instrucion leaflet is close to useless. They must assume that the device needs no instructions, but it's not clear how the self leveling light indicators work. The off level warning light blinks forever even when it is dead perfect level. The only way I found to get it to flash green (good to go) was to bump the unit.

to keep it short: it was a great tool for installing chair rail and crown molding. The tripod is designed for outdoor use though (legs have spikes). PLS does make a model for indoor use; my fault for not checking closer. Still, a very useful tool.
