No, these butter dishes do not hold a lot of butter but that is the point. If you don't want to throw the butter tub on the table, but instead have a bit of class these are lovely. It does hold enough butter for my family of three to butter several slices of bread each. If you are serving a newly herbed butter with your dinner, the clear glass allows the fresh bits to shine through. They are made from a nice, heavy glass so you don't worry about busting it when removing the lid or scooping up a dab of butter. I use one for butter and one for cream cheese for breakfast.

These glass butter dishes will not hold a lot, but will be useful as individual butter servers. Love the shape and quality.

These small,heavy,good looking,glass butter dishes work just as I need them to. I've allready droped one and nothing happen. Over the years I've busted a few crock butter bells that you pack the butter inside the top of the bell,turn it over,put it in the base filled with water. The water's purpose is to keep air from spoiling the room temperture butter. Their messy,with having to pack the butter in the top to keep it from falling down into the water. This butter dish I keep by my toaster so I have easy spreadable butter for my morning english muffin or toast. It takes me about 5 days to use the butter up then I put the butter dish in the dishwasher and fill another clean butter dish with butter. I can easily cut off a block of butter from the stick of butter I keep in the refrigator and drop the block into a clean dish. I had guest for a few days and ended up giving my spare to my sister. So, I've ordered two more for me. A spare clean one for butter and one for cream cheese that another reviewer suggested. I've ordered another two for my nephew and his bride, because my sister said he and I had the room temperature butter thing in common.
