We bought this to replace the third broken electric tea kettle at our office. We should haved bought it sooner. 3 liters is big enough for the dozen or so that use the hot water. The water indicator is easy to see so it has never gone dry. The time it takes to boil first thing in the morning hasn't been a problem because it is better than waiting for the tea kettle to boil all day long. We solved the no on/off switch by putting it on a surge protector that we turn off at the end of the day.

This hot water boiler has been with me for 3 years now and still works great. This has been the most handy tool in my college dorm. Ramen, coffee, soup, whatever. It dispenses hot water at a specific temp every time.

I'm a serious tea drinker, and have a home office. Before getting the Zojirushi hot water heater and dispenser, I was constantly turning on the kettle, walking away, forgetting it, coming back and finding the water had cooled down...and on and on. Now there's hot water whenever I need it. It's particularly wonderful if you are sick and want to make a cup of hot tea in the middle of the night. I got the 3-liter size (rather than the 4-liter) but that's enough for small parties. It's easy to fill, easy to keep clean -- and I like the metallic-look exterior.
