I took a chance on these speakers based on consumer reviews (to include the indoor version of these speakers the Axiom M3s) and I could not be happier with the results. Warm, bright and rich in detail. I have these married to this receiver Onkyo TX-8255 Stereo Receiver.Maybe I got lucky with this speaker/amp combination. Or with the acoustics of my covered outdoor kitchen. Maybe my hearing has changed, my memory has failed or I am simply not as sophisticated a listener as I like to think I am. But I believe these are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned or auditioned (which is quite a few).

I tried these outdoor speakers after I returned a set of Polk speakers that were disappointing. I think most companies view outdoor speakers as background music kind of speakers, and for a majority of people that's probably true. I didn't want to spend this much money on speakers just to get background music. I want to be able to enjoy my music with clarity and depth and a little punch. The result is that they are big, with 6.5" drivers. Smaller speakers, to me, sound too hollow when trying to reproduce decent lower end sounds, especially outdoor speakers with plastic housing. These have a realistic depth to them. Vocals are crisp and clear, even in the wide open outdoors. In a perfect world we could have tiny little speakers tucked away and still get full rich sound. But physics call for a bigger speaker and a bigger cabinet for full range sound so I was willing to go with bigger speakers to get the sound I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
