5Absolutely. Speechless.

If any mid-high range audio company does it right, it's Def Tech.I bought these on 12/1/08 along with the Def Tech C/L/R 2300, plugged them in to my Yamaha HTR-5890 (130 watts per channel) and they sound INCREDIBLE. I bought them mainly for home theater, but i also listen to music, which sounds crystal clear. The midrange and tweeter do an incredible job at capturing detailed sounds in movies that I never heard on my previous system. Voices from the center (which contains the exact same midrange, tweeter, and subwoofer that the 7006's do) sound like real voices; not someone talking in a tin can. The subwoofer picks up deep voices and other noises that any other center wouldn't. I highly recommend pairing the fronts and center for a real theater experience. The 8" subwoofers produce very tight and accurate bass. I have the Sub Level knobs half way up and it is plenty loud. The only thing about the subs is they obviously don't hit the lows that a 10 or 12 can, but this is only noticeable when listening to rap music. For movies and other music, the subs are just perfect. The speakers on the back of the bi-polar 7006's do a whole lot more than I thought they would. While listening to Every Word by Ercola (in 2 channel stereo) there were parts of the song where I thought my rears were on. I stood up and put my ear next to them, and they weren't. I have the fronts angled in so they are pointing at me while I'm on the couch, and in turn, the midrange and tweeter on the back of the speaker are angled out. This causes the sound to bounce off the front wall, then side walls, and eventually off the back walls. It really fills the whole room with sound, even in 2 channel stereo. The 7006's are plenty loud and clear for my room (20'x15'). I am so satisfied with them that I don't see the need to upgrade (to the 7004's or 7002's) unless you have a bigger room. My next plan is to get a y-adapter along with two subwoofer cables to hook up the optional LFE jack. This will allow me to set a LFE cut off point on my receiver (and level), thus allowing me to control the bass even more so.If you are looking in the price range, I suggest Def Tech. It truly creates an amazing home theater experience with life like room filling sound and accurate, tight bass.EDIT: I have had these speakers for over a week now, and they keep sounding better and better every day. Most high end speakers such as these require a "break-in" period, anywhere between 40 and 60 hours of modest play time. The most noticeable change is definitely in the subwoofers. They are hitting deeper and cleaner than when I first got them. I will keep you updated when I hook up the LFE channel.

5Lots of value built in
By Heggs
This review is actually for both the Right and Left channels.I've had these for about a month now, and I'm very happy with the purchase. Unfortunately, I currently live in an apartment, so I really can't let these speakers stretch their legs, but from what I've heard, the sound is very good and spacious. The spaciousness is probably coming from the bipolar design. The soundstage is not focused in one area and is quite large. The highs are good and not fatiguing, the mids are present, and the bass is ample and well defined. I have the knob set to 1/4 on each and it's more than enough. Definitive Technology is a little generous with their frequency range. While the speakers may in fact get down to 17 Hz, I doubt there's much output at that frequency. Don't get me wrong, they still provide ample, accurate bass that has real presence. Granted, when I move into a house, I'll be able to really test them out. At present I can only comment how they perform at moderate listening levels. The box came well packaged: double boxed, and the speakers were in good shape. They are sturdy, solid, and somewhat heavy at 50 lbs each. Large enough to have some presence, but not too heavy where you can move them yourself.I purchased an Onkyo HtiB years ago with separate components and have thus far replaced the fronts. Next in line is the center (DefTech), then surrounds (DefTech), then subwoofer (TBD, probably an SVS or HSU Research sub). The Onkyo receiver (can't remember the model number), is rated at 100 W/ch and works well with these speakers.Configuration: I have the speakers connected using banana plugs on both ends, with 12 Gauge wire run from the receiver to the speakers. They are set to full band on the receiver. Sub is set to on, and double bass is set off. I would recommend checking out AVSForum, in the Definitive Technology Owner's thread, for more information this bipolar speaker line in general.

5Full Sound
By R. Pandolfo
I just bought these speakers as a replacement for my Boston Acoustics VR960's, which also have built in subwoofers. I tried a stand alone sub but I am so used to the dual built in subs that I decided to get these speakers. These have 300 watt built in subs which are quite powerful for a mid sized room. The thing I like about the built in subs, they are not only great for movies, but they are outstanding for rock music. These speakers have the best bass of any speakers I've heard in this price range, and I have the subs at less than half volume. These also have speakers in the front, sides, and back so the sound bounces off the walls and you get a big sound stage which is outstanding for surround sound movies. For music I'm very pleased. We listened to The Dark Side of the Moon stereo SACD last night and I've never heard it sound so dynamic. I don't know if these will hold up as well as Boston Acoustic speakers, which I've used for many years (two sets), but they sound great and they are a good value in this price range, especially if you like Rock music and strong bass.
