By JustPlainDon
I've been using this to cut sections of concrete blocks (6 cuts per block and around 150 blocks) for a pond I'm building. So far this little saw is doing exactly what I need and apparently without any effort. This is a lightweight, powerful and easy to use little masonry saw. I would not hesitate to suggest a friend buy one of these...at least for the type of work I'm doing.

By J. Herring
I decided to try this saw to finish up my granite counter top job. We got 2 cm granite slabs for kitchen counters in our beach house. I started the project using my 7 1/4 inch circular saw with a diamond dry cut blade. It worked OK, but the cut edges were a little rough, and the process slowed down as the blade got a little worn. I did some cuts for the sink with a high speed angle grinder, which worked great, so I decided speed was the key.The Makita saw turns at 13,000 rpm, similar to the angle grinder. It cut through the granite like a hot knife through butter! The Makita diamond blade that comes with the saw works perfectly. The blade change wrenches that come with the saw are very easy to use. The cut edges with this saw were very straight, and much cleaner than with the larger, slower turning blade I originally used. I was very impressed.A couple words of caution: The blade side of the base plate was impossible to guide on, so set your guide surface up to work off the backside of the base plate (I clamped down my contractors square, and slid the saw along the edge, cut a very true line). Secondly, the cutting depth is too shallow for a double thickness bullnose, so you'll have to finish that cut from the bottom side. This saw will work great on thinner material.I don't think you can go wrong with Makita power tools. I bought this saw on Amazon. Cutting granite is a fairly limited application, but if you need to do it, this saw is worth it!

is very good if you know how to make and position the cuts you need to cut it from above the tile not the sides... cuts not perfect but decent if you change the blade you can even use it to cut studs if you get a wood blade 4 1 2 or 4 3 8... I would reccomend this to anyone, the trigger on my saw broke on the first use but bad luck i guess...
