My New favorite guitar.

This is my new favorite guitar. Besides the awesome design, it's got a great gritty sound to it. Pumped through the Pop and hiss of a Danelectro N10A Honey Tone Mini Amp it really sounds great. Plugged in to my Peavy Vypyr, well, I may lose my hearing. Great guitar!!!

Awesome guitar! Very versatile tones.

I bought this to be my main electric and so far I have been quite satisfied. When you open up the case for the first time, you will be wowed by how beautiful the curves look and how nice the fiberglass top makes the guitar look. This top makes for a bit of Jack White sound (as the Airline guitars were made of fiberglass). The bridge came intonated perfectly, although had some sort of gunk or rust on it. Some vinegar and a rag cleaned it up perfectly though. The guitar weight is fine and easily manageable, with it also not being too neck heavy or anything like that. I love the head stock shape and the Italia logo as well, and the neck feels very nice. It's interesting, because it feels thin at the nut, but widens up a considerable amount by the 12th fret. Also, the inlays are gorgeous as well as the fretboard wood. The fret size is great, and I love then scale length of the guitar. (In between Gibson and Fender sizing, being 25") The guitar has two outputs, and the one closest to the pickguard is the main out (humbuckers) and the other output is for the piezo acoustic bridge pickup (which sounds beautiful, by the way). The two EQ knobs for the piezo output are quite fun to mess with as they alter the acoustic sound drastically. Lots of experimenting here. The controls in general, feel very very smooth. I love the 3 way switch, and the knobs are the smoothest of all my guitars. Swells are easy, as you can go from 1 to 10 with the knobs almost instantly. The humbuckers sound great as well. They are pretty low output but that is okay as I usually overdrive them with a fuzz. They sound amazing with just a clean channel and a delay.A few things I don't love: The serial number is a bright orange sticker on the inside of the F hole, making it disgustingly visible. I took this out right away and stuck it on the back of the guitar. Some people don't like how the pickguard is white, while the guitar is cream white. I personally am not too bothered by this but it bothers some more than others. I wasn't particularly fond of the neck joint construction. It's Italia's own bolt on neck joint as opposed to a traditional four holes. This neck joint only has one screw! So far this hasn't affected tuning, intonation etc. However, having a one screw neck joint worries me a fair bit. The main thing I dislike about the guitar is how the electronics and internals are stored. This guitar is not front routed like a Strat, and not back routed like a Gibson. It is more like two halves of the body that are held together. There is the black trim (almost like binding) around the body that holds the front and back together. A few screws underneath the trim hold it together. Basically, one must remove the bridge plate, remove the trim, remove a bunch of screws, and some other stuff, just to split the guitar's halves to get to the internals. Very poor construction here. Wish they would have back routed, but might have affected the tone (being semi-hollow). Basically, if you buy this I hope you love the tone and the electronics, otherwise it will be a bit of a pain to rewire anything. For me, I love this guitar. I love the sound of the humbuckers, I think the pots are fine, and I love the wiring, and everything, so I am lucky! (opening the guitar is not necessary).Overall, I think this is a very versatile guitar and I love it. It looks gorgeous and many guitarists will ask you what is is. It plays beautifully and sounds wonderful as well. Cleans up well with a delay/reverb and it sounds extremely Jack White with a fuzz. Love the tones you can get with the Piezo out as well. My amp has two inputs, so it is fun to sometimes run both the humbuckers and the Piezo as well. It is a fantastic instrument and anyone would be lucky to own one. I highly recommend this guitar!
