Geat looking shelves to store your DVDs.
By Timothy B. Riley
I had out-grown my old media shelves as they were designed to hold about 200 DVDs and I have over 300 plus many season-sets (like the Sopranos, OZ, West Wing, etc.) so I needed something bigger. I also wanted a cabinet that looked pretty nice. I keep it in a study and I didn't want it to look like something in a dorm room, yet I didn't want to spend the kind of money required for a really nice piece of furniture made from solid wood. This Atlantic cabinet really fit the bill.I too encountered some assembly issues which would have been prevented had the instructions been better written. Still, I got it done by myself in a couple of hours with very few swear-words being uttered. Yes, this is made of pressed wood and it comes from China but for the cost I couldn't find anything better. This cabinet really looks GOOD when you're done. I spaced my shelves out a little vertically so that my collection is easy to get to instead of having the shelves practically setting on top of the DVDs below them. This gave me the option to spread out some smaller openings for knick-knacks and photos (you can see my set-up under "customer images"). I think that this adds to it's looks and appears more "grown-up" than having them all crowded together. It comes with plenty of shelves and they are easy to move in case my needs change. So far this has been perfect for me, I just wish that the instructions were better written.

Works, but not especially well made or attractive
By S. Jacobs
Although I like attractive, well-made furniture, I don't like paying the high price they demand. This DVD shelf works but is what you'd expect from mass-produced pressboard shipped in a flat-pack.As others have noted, this comes in quite a few pieces. The finish is some sort of plastic coating over pressboard (essentially sawdust and glue formed into boards).I noticed that a few of the shelf pieces had missing finish on one side and one was an inch too short. Thankfully, you won't need all of the shelves unless you're planning on storing CDs.Assembly was complicated by a few things: The locking mechanisms that held the top and bottom halves were difficult to get locked properly and they failed completely when the unit was placed on its face in order to attach the back. I ended up using wood glue on the alignment dowels and clamping it together overnight.Since the back gives the unit all of its lateral strength and more or less locks the entire unit to whatever alignment it has at the moment of installation, I had my wife hold it in a vertical position and hold a carpenters level while I got the first few brads installed.Once it was assembled, it was pretty simple to install the shelves and load the DVDs into it. Since the unit isn't especially strong, I *highly* recommend not trying to move it once it's loaded.I also highly recommend using the included retaining clips that will attach it to the wall. It may save you from tipping mishaps in the future.I'd probably pick a more substantially made unit if given a do-over, but this shelf does work.

Flimsy and expensive but it works.
By Gerald L. Litzza
Trivial assembly. Extremely low quality materials. Be sure to BOLT it to the wall, else it will fall over under load.Expensive for what it is, but for the storage volume and once fixed to the wall it works just fine. I bought two and screwed them together and to the wall to make sure they were stable. To call them furniture is a stretch.
